In the book The Siege of Macindaw there were two main conflicts. At the beginning of the book Will was sent in by his authorities to get an overview of a situation that was occurring at Macindaw, with the new king of Macindaw, Orman. That is a person vs person conflict with Will and Orman. Then, later on in the book Will has to conquer bandits that take over Macindaw, and that is person vs. society.
Will was sent with barely any information except he was told that there were strange things happening. He goes in thinking that the new king Orman is a bad guy. Then Orman get's poisoned and Will finds out Orman's cousin Keren is the evil one. Keren then takes the whole castle over and brings many unruly bandits and rule breakers to the castle to help him. Will then finds some old friend from Skandia who are amazing warriors that help him fight to get the castle back. The Skandians along with Will end up dominating the opposing force and take the castle back for Orman.
