The Story of Fablehaven

Author's Note: This piece was created to show my knowledge in predicting. I read and predicted on the book Fablehaven.

When Kendra and Seth’s parents go on a free vacation because of their mom’s parent’s death, Kendra and Seth go to their Grandpa Sorenson’s. He’s a stern man who keeps to himself, but he becomes nice and talks a lot when Kendra and Seth learn that Fablehaven is magical. It is a land of fairies and monsters. They run with the fairies and drink magical milk to make them see them. Seth then gets a little curious and catches a fairy and keeps it overnight. The fairy grows into and imp and gets away. A couple days later Grandpa Sorenson tells Seth and Kendra that tonight they have to stay inside because it is the Summer Solstice.

The Summer Solstice, one of the two most dreaded days of the year for Grandpa Sorenson.  During the Summer Solstice you have to hide in your house the whole night. The evil dwellers try to lure you out to kill you and take over Fablehaven. Seth opens the door because of trickery and let’s in bad creatures. They end up destroying the whole house and taking grandpa. Seth and Kendra have to restore peace and find grandpa in Fablehaven.

This book reminds me a lot about “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”. In that book Percy needs to find a certain item to make peace between the Gods. Also, Percy finds out something magical about him just like when Seth and Kendra find out about the magical preserve. Another book that this reminds me about is “The Battle for Skandia”. In that book Will also needs to restore peace between two rival countries. Skandia always invades Araluen coastal cities and takes money and supplies. Will then saves Skandia and they don’t invade anymore. That’s what happened in Fablehaven because Kendra get’s help from the fairy army who cannot be defeated.

If I were to write a different ending this is how it would go:

Kendra, Seth, Grandma and Hugo are walking through the woods. It seems much more creepy knowing that the head caretaker is captured. They hear noises here and there. Hugo leads the way and then stops at the forgotten chapel. The chapel is awfully spine-chilling and everyone stands in awe. No one wants to go in but then Grandma tells Hugo to lead them to the basement. Down there Seth and Kendra hear all these evil noises and can’t stand the sound. Grandma pulls out a box and opens it  and gives to Seth and Kendra each earplugs. They take them thankfully but wonder why Grandma doesn’t need them. Hugo then pushes open the door and gets blown backwards. It’s incredible because he is made out of earth and stone and must weigh 10 tons. Seth tries to sneak a peek but gets blown backwards as well. Grandma grabs Kendra and uses motions to show her not to look. Grandma who then walks into the room is unhurt. Kendra hears a bunch of noises that she can’t put with any type of animal but sounds terrifying. Then out of nowhere Kendra hears her grandma screaming. She runs in and feels sharp pains everywhere in her body. The next thing you know she’s chained up and staring at the devil.

The reason why I thought these things would happen is because they say the devil is very strong and unbeatable. I made grandma almost untouchable because she is one of the owners. Since she is one of the owners along with grandpa all of the minor creatures can’t do much to her and can’t harm her. With Hugo I made him turn into a pile of rubble because he is made out of dirt. Magical evil creatures could easily destroy that with their powers. Seth and Kendra could be harmed because they just found out about everything and they are vulnerable to magic.
