In the book "They Never Came Home",
Frank changed from a scared wimp to a manly man. He started out being super
scared when his brother didn’t come home. Frank’s parents and brother moved
along and knew they lost him but Frank was still worried. They tried everything
to get him back to normal but it wouldn’t work.
Frank’s brother his girlfriend’s brother went on
a camping trip together. They thought that it would be fine and didn’t give it
a second thought. Then, it was time that they were supposed to come home but
they didn’t. At first, Frank thought they were just late or decided to stay an
extra night but after two days they put on a search for the boys. Frank decided
to go along because he wanted to be the hero and find his missing brother, but
he didn’t. They searched for two days then called the search off. School then
resumed and he had his last day of school. It was a hot day and his friends
went swimming and asked him to come. He denied them and went home. For a couple weeks he did nothing and sat at home
sad and worried. That’s not the old Frank and everyone knew it.
Then somewhere along the line, Frank’s old self
sort of comes back. He thought about her brothers girlfriend and how she felt
about this. Frank went and apologized to her and said how sorry he was. She
seemed to be taking it very well. It’s her mom that is the problem. Her mom has
post dramatic stress and can’t handle it. She won’t believe her son is dead and
then Frank and his big mouth told her and she believed him and broke down.
Frank then realized the girl needs help and he should be the one to do it. He
transforms from a baby to a helpful friend and man. Frank helps her get through
everything while having a great attitude.
As you can see Frank has definitely changed
throughout the book. He started off as a little girl who didn’t do anything and
hid in a corner. During the book he transferred into a nice and helpful man.
