The Highest of the Heat

Author's Note: I wrote this essay to inform you that High Heat is a good book. Also, to let you know that you should read it.

High Heat by Carl Deuker is a very good book. There are so many excellent parts and some bad parts that are boring and sad to read. The book makes me happy but it is also very sad and depressing

My most favorite part about the book is when the person he hits in the head had his first game back from the hospital and he makes a diving catch. It is such an uplifting moment and it makes me feel so good. But the person that came back never really got back to hitting the baseball which is sad. There wasn’t much description in that part so it was not the best part but I still liked it.

There’s a really sad part in the book where his dad dies. It makes me think of people who’s dad died and I feel really bad for them. For this part the author did a very good job of describing how it all went down. From him pitching a shutout inning to close the game. Then driving home with his coach to find police men at his house. That part was described so well it made me want to write.

Another part in the book is when he transfers to a different school. There were so many changes he had to go through. For one he had to change from a private school to a public school. Next, he had to make new friends. Finally, he had to go on a baseball team that wasn’t very good and he had to try to make them better. The author put all of that into the book and described it very well. Like when he went to look at the baseball field he describe the luscious green grass that had no holes in it, and the sand was perfectly raked with lines so very straight.

Overall the book was very good with happy and sad parts that made the book fulfilled.
